Blowup is built on one idea: the local scene decides what's good. That only works if everyone's playing it straight — real clips, real spots, real votes.

These guidelines cover what you can post, what you can't, and what happens when someone crosses the line. They apply to everything on the platform: videos, comments, DMs, profile info, and how you interact with other skaters.

You agreed to these when you signed up. They're part of our Terms of Service. If you see something that shouldn't be here, report it — that's how this stays a place worth being.

01 — What You Can't Post

Prohibited Content

Skating is raw. Slams happen. Spots get gnarly. We're not trying to sanitize that. But there's a clear line between skate culture and content that hurts people — and we enforce it.

Hard no. No exceptions.

Immediate removal + account termination
  • Sexual content involving minors. Any of it. Reported to law enforcement immediately.
  • Content that depicts, facilitates, or instructs real-world violence against a specific person or group.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form.
  • Content that promotes or instructs terrorism or mass violence.

Also prohibited

On skate injuries: Slams, bails, and rough falls are part of skating and are allowed. We're not going to remove a slam video because it looks painful. We will remove content that appears designed to humiliate, mock a serious injury, or dehumanize the person in the clip — especially if they didn't consent to being filmed.

On spots: We know skating often happens in legally gray areas. Posting at a spot that has a "no skating" sign isn't grounds for removal. Posting a guide on how to defeat the security system at a specific building is.

02 — Reporting

How to Report Content

Every video, comment, and profile on Blowup has a report option. Use it.

Reports are anonymous. The person you report won't know it was you. You won't receive a detailed update on what action was taken (for the reported person's privacy), but we do act on every report.

03 — How We Respond

Moderation Process

Every report gets a real review. We're not running an automated filter — a human reads it.

Response commitment: We review all reports within 24 hours of submission, 7 days a week. Severe violations (CSAM, credible threats, targeted harassment) are escalated immediately.

Actions we can take

We may notify the affected account when content is removed or the account is actioned. We do not always do so — and we will not notify when doing so might compromise an ongoing investigation or the safety of the reporting party.

04 — Appeals

Appealing a Decision

We make calls as accurately as we can, but we're not infallible. If you think a decision was wrong, you can appeal.

Appeals for account terminations resulting from CSAM, child exploitation, or credible threats of violence are not accepted.

05 — Repeat Offenders

How We Decide

Isolated incidents happen. Patterns don't get ignored.

We weigh the severity of a violation, whether it's a first occurrence or part of a pattern, and the risk to other users. Minor, first-time issues are typically handled by removing the offending content and leaving the account active. Repeated violations, or a single severe violation, can result in permanent removal from the platform without prior notice.

Severe violations — CSAM, credible threats of violence, coordinated harassment campaigns — result in immediate permanent termination, regardless of history.

06 — Account Termination

When Accounts Get Banned

We can terminate accounts immediately and without warning for any of the following:

When we ban an account, the user loses access to the platform and can no longer post, vote, comment, or message. Content removed for violating these guidelines stays down. The decision is final for severe violations. (If you delete your own account through Settings → Delete Account, all of your content and personal data is permanently removed — see our Privacy Policy.)

07 — Copyright

DMCA Takedown Process

We respect intellectual property. If you own a copyright and believe your work has been posted on Blowup without authorization, you can request its removal.

To submit a DMCA takedown notice

Email legal@blowuplocal.app with subject line "DMCA Takedown Request." Your notice must include:

Counter-notices

If your content was removed in response to a DMCA notice and you believe that removal was a mistake, you can file a counter-notice. Email us at legal@blowuplocal.app with "DMCA Counter-Notice" in the subject line. Your counter-notice must meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3).

Filing a false DMCA notice or counter-notice is perjury under federal law. We take both seriously.

08 — Law Enforcement

Law Enforcement Requests

We cooperate with law enforcement agencies when legally required to do so.

Law enforcement requests can be directed to legal@blowuplocal.app. Include agency name, badge or ID number, and the specific data being requested along with the legal authority for the request.
