Answers to the things people ask most. If yours isn't here, use the contact form or email support@blowuplocal.app and a real person will get back to you.
Getting started
Is Blowup available yet?
Not on the App Store yet. Blowup is in closed testing while the app and the first Portland scene get built out. Join the waitlist and we'll email you once — when it's live.
How old do you have to be?
13 or older. We ask for your date of birth at signup and accounts under 13 are blocked.
What is Founding Skater?
The first 500 accounts on Blowup — anywhere, not per city — keep permanent Founding Skater status on their profile. It doesn't buy influence over voting or ranking; it's a marker of having been there early.
Posting & voting
Why can't I post my clip here?
Clips are geolocked — you have to actually be at the spot to post to it. The check happens when you upload, not when you record, so you can film first and post before you leave.
The range is about 200 feet at street spots and 500 feet at skateparks, with some slack for GPS drift. If you're standing at the spot and it still won't let you post, your phone's location is probably imprecise: make sure Blowup has precise location permission and that you're outside rather than indoors.
Where are the vote counts?
Deliberately hidden. You can see that a clip is blowing up, but never the raw numbers on anyone's post — including your own. Public counters turn a scene into a scoreboard, and that's the thing we're trying not to build.
Can I change or take back a vote?
Yes. Tap HYPE or NAH again to remove it, or tap the other one to flip it.
Why does my vote seem to count more at some spots?
Because it does. Votes are weighted, and the biggest factor is whether you're a regular at that specific spot. Standing you build at your home park doesn't carry to a spot across town.
Can I post something only my homies can see?
Yes — set a clip to homies-only when you post it, or change it later from the clip's edit menu. Homies-only clips don't appear in public feeds, don't get voted on, and don't count toward any ranking.
Safety & moderation
How do I report a clip, spot, or person?
Every clip, spot, and profile has a "more" menu with a Report option. Pick the reason that fits and send it — reports go straight to a moderation queue that a human reviews.
If something is urgent or involves a minor's safety, also email moderator@blowuplocal.app so it isn't waiting in a queue.
How do I block someone?
Open their profile, tap the more menu, and choose Block. Blocking is mutual and immediate: you disappear from each other's feeds, comments, votes, notifications, and messages, and any homie connection between you is undone.
Someone posted a clip of me and I want it down.
Report the clip in-app and pick the reason that fits, or email support@blowuplocal.app with a link. You don't need an account to ask.
Spot safety
Some spots shouldn't be public. When you pin one, you can mark it homies-only so it stays off the public map. We never publish exact spot coordinates on this website, and a clip shared to the web shows the spot's name and city only.
Your account & data
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. It's permanent and takes effect right away — your profile, clips, votes, comments, and messages are removed, along with the video and image files behind them.
If you can't get into your account, submit a deletion request through the contact form and pick "Privacy — Delete my account/data".
How do I get a copy of my data?
Use the contact form and select "Privacy — Access my data" or "Privacy — Copy of my data". We respond within 45 days, as applicable law requires.
Does Blowup track me or run ads?
No advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics are in the app. Location is used to check you're at the spot and to show you what's near you — it isn't sold or shared, and sharing a clip never attaches your live location.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
